Last month, the Cambridge Analytica scandal put the Facebook users’ data privacy leak under the spotlight. According to Mark Zuckerberg's FB post, Kogan used Facebook Platform to gain millions of Facebook users' privacy data and sold them to Cambridge Analytica. Mark Zuckerberg apologized for this Privacy leaking. But those Facebook users’ privacy was shared out and they had to face the coming potential risks by their own.
To avoid your privacy of being used by any malicious third-party apps in Facebook or Facebook itself, here are several things you may need to do now.
1. Check if your data is leaked to Cambridge Analytica
Visit Facebook’s help center and type in “Cambridge Analytica,” or try this link. Log in, if you’ve got a note like this:
Then congrats, your data is not leaked to Cambridge Analytica. But if the message shows you or one of your friends logged into”This Is Your Digital Life” app, your data might have been shared.
2. Check your authorised third-party apps in Facebook
Although Facebook has updated their polices: Share limited information to the third-party apps. It’s better to permit trusted apps to access your data and figure out what information they’ve accessed. You may:
Click the “drop-down list” at the upper-right corner and choose “Settings” at the bottom of the list, then click on the “Apps and Websites” tab.
Then all the authorised third-party apps are listed here. You may view and edit the app’s accessing permission details. Or directly Removed them if you do not need them anymore.
3. Clean browsing data and cookies while using Facebook
Besides third-party apps, more service exists in Facebook may leak data no matter you are using it’s service or not. The most common way is to track your browsing data on websites, and using those data to judge your favorites, and target related ads to you. To avoid your privacy and data leaking while using Facebook, you may cleanup browsing data and cookies in time. If you have Advanced SystemCare, you may:
Click Menu icon on the top left corner, and choose “Settings” to open the setting window. And choose “Ignore list” on the left menu and click “Browser Cookies” tab and find “facebook.com” in the right window (Cookies to Keep) move it to the left window (Cookies to Delete) .
When it shows in “Cookies to Delete”, Advanced SystemCare will help you delete those browsing data and cookies by just a click.
Or update to latest version: 11.3.0.221 and tick “Privacy Sweep”, then just click the “Scan” button can help you detecting and deleting those browsing data and cookies.
